people in partnership stewarding the planet for sustaining life in abundance
" The loss of worldly permanence and reliability does not entail, at least not necessarily, the loss of the human capacity for building, preserving, and caring for a world that can survive us and remain a place fit to live in for those who come after us."
Hannah Arendt, 1954 |
IntroductionURAIDE has started on November 11, 2011 as a website to contribute to reflection on civil society space. Partly the purpose was to safeguard the legacy of PSO, an organisation that had to close down by the end of 2012, but primarily to have a space to share my own thoughts and sharpen my mind. At the beginning of 2012 I registered URAIDE as a social enterprise though soon I found out that its mission of a strong civil society could best be accomplished from within civil society organisations. After a period of teaching and providing some consulting services I accepted roles within organisations allowing me to contribute to organisational and institutional change. Finally I transferred into government service and since May 1, 2020 I have been tasked with supporting the implementation of the new policy framework strengthening civil society of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On December 31, 2020 I have liquidated the business identity of URAIDE with our Chamber of Commerce. In my current role I am at the heart of what the mission of URAIDE was all about: strengthening civil society. I will therefore continue to share lessons through the blog that I have maintained over the years and hope this will serve those who have supported the mission of URAIDE to strengthen civil society worldwide.
